Federal tax incentives for certain energy-efficient home improvements have changed.

The Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Section 25C) and the Residential Clean Energy Credit (Section 25D) expired on December 31, 2025, following changes enacted under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. These federal tax credits are no longer available for installations completed after that date.

If you completed a qualifying installation on or before December 31, 2025, you may still be eligible to claim these credits when filing your federal tax return, subject to IRS rules and guidance.

What This Means for Homeowners

While federal tax credits are no longer available, you may still have opportunities to save through:

  • Local utility rebates

  • State or regional incentive programs

  • Manufacturer promotions or seasonal offers

Availability and eligibility for these programs vary by location and product.
