In celebration of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital supporters from across the country participated in the virtual St. Jude Walk/Run on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Participants walked, ran, and fundraised at their own pace and distance in their own neighborhoods. The St. Jude mobile app provided a unique experience that included an opening ceremony, a virtual tour of the hospital, and engagement opportunities using augmented reality.
We are proud to announce that ARS/Rescue Rooter branches raised more than $11,700 through Walk/Run virtual events. One hundred twenty-three team members from 22 ARS teams participated in 16 events across the country. We appreciate every team captain, donor, and supporter who contributed their time, talents, and funds to help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since it opened nearly 60 years ago. St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, so every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
